©AfreePress- (Lomé, November 8, 2020) -The new Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Togo, Joaquín Vilallonga was received Monday, November 9, 2020 by the President of the House of Representatives, Chantal Yawa Tsègan.
Discussions between the two personalities focused on the friendship relationship and cooperation between the EU and Togo and especially, their strengthening. “We had the pleasure of meeting the President of the Togolese House of Representatives this morning to firstly congratulate her on her work. It embodies the parliament in legislative and budgetary terms, including the control of government action. Then we want to congratulate her for the support she gives to the European Union in partnership with the World Bank. We also talked about budgetary consolidation and the importance of the European Union’s allocations which are in line with the National Development Plan (NDP) that we support ”, declared the new Head of the EU Delegation in Togo, at the end of the hearing.
Joaquin Vilallonga has a long career in diplomacy, development and international relations. Passed in turn to the Delegations of the European Union (EU) of Albania, Jordan and Yemen, he joined the Pan-African Affairs Division of the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Brussels, a post he held until his appointment in Togo.
