Agbéyomé Kodjo, Guillaume Soro and Cellou Dallein Diallo : The African opposition welcomes the election of Joe Biden

Among the leaders of the opposition parties to congratulate the next President of the United States is the Togolese opponent, Dr Agbéyomé Messan Kodjo. “In the name of the legitimate Government of Togo”, he wrote on his Twitter account, “I salute the truth of the ballot boxes in the USA where it is the institutions which organized the presidential election which have provided proof of the victory of Mr. Joe Biden. A truth that is imposed on Togo. Congratulations on this great victory, ”he said.


« I address my warm congratulations to Mr. Joe Biden, for his brilliant election as the 46th President of the United States of America », still writes on Twitter, Guillaume Soro who also congratulates Kamala Harris, and indicates that the United States offers by this election, the face of a mature democracy where the electoral competition, framed by the Constitution takes place without fury and without violence.


The former rebel leader does not forget to send a spicy message to the President-elect of his country, Côte d’Ivoire. The Ivory Coast, he said, is the victim of a « burlesque violation of its Constitution to serve the tragic ambition of a man to stay in power. » The country, he said, is now in the grip of serious and disturbing political violence.

Cellou Dalein Diallo, an unsuccessful candidate in the last presidential election in Guinea Conakry, for his part chose his facebook page to send his message to the winner of the US presidential election.


“I extend my warmest congratulations to Joe Biden who has just been elected President of the United States of America. These congratulations also go to the American people and to the Democratic Party which contributes, notably through the NDI, to the promotion of democracy in Africa, ”said the Guinean opponent.


Thomas Boni Yayi, former President of Benin and current opponent of Patrice Talon, was not indifferent to the election of Joe Biden as head of the United States. In a post made on his Facebook page Sunday, November 8, 2020, the former Beninese Head of State speaks of a crossed destiny between him and the new strongman of the United States.


He evokes in this case, the circumstances of his meeting with Joe Biden at the White House, during the signing of the second Compact in 2015, a partnership relating to the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA). “I was there under the second Compact. Good Governance, Democracy, the Rule of Law, Respect for Fundamental Freedoms and Human Rights were the prerequisites, » he said.


« It was on this occasion, at the White House that our destinies had crossed, the new President-elect of the USA, Joe Biden and I to supervise this signature for an amount of more than 430 million US Dollars », he continued.


During this meeting, Boni Yayi said he saw the love Joe Biden had for Africa. “During the tête-à-tête offered to me in his office worthy of a humble man, President Biden displayed to me his heart for Africa, his humanism, his commitment to multilateralism and to the Global Coalition to Confront many challenges that the rest of  humanity is facing, ”he wrote and indicated that the election of Joe Biden will allow the relaunch of American-African relations and the strengthening of the World Coalition against contemporary challenges.
