Togo-Egypt : Tested positive in Lomé, Arsenal player Mohamed Elneny refuses quarantine

©AfreePress- (Lomé, November 17, 2020) – The team ‘’Les Eperviers’’ faces Tuesday November 17, 2020 at the Kegué stadium, the Pharaohs of Egypt as part of the 4th day of the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) Cameroon 2020.


The Egyptian delegation has been in Lomé since Monday, November 16. Significantly, two members of this delegation, tested  Covid-19 positive  on their arrival at Lomé international airport, categorically refused to be quarantined.


According to information received by the AfreePress news agency, it is the Arsenal football club player Mohamed Elneny and a member of the delegation of Egypt. In accordance with the measures taken by the health authorities in Togo, the Egyptian player and his compatriot must be placed in isolation at the Ibis hotel in Lomé. But to Togo’s surprise, the Egyptians refused to comply with this demand, the AfreePress news agency has been informed.


The same situation occurred during the away match, on November 14, 2020 in Cairo, but without resistance, the Togolese player detected positive had accepted his quarantine in Cairo.

The Togolese international Serge SEKO declared positive, had even been taken out of the hotel for an isolation center while his teammates were on training course, report sources close to the Togolese delegation.


It should be remembered that because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Togo-Egypt return match will be played this Tuesday at Kegué in backstage.
