Indeed, March 2021, videos of child pornography shot in Togo, circulated on social media compromising the rights of the child and undermining the cultural and social values of our country. These pornographic videos featuring children were shot in the locality of Adangbe in the district of Zio and broadcasted on social media.

In this district, the NGO Compassion International Togo has been operating for more than five years and in more than 15 communities including Adangbe through the Child and Youth Development Centers (CYDC) which serve more than three thousand children and youth from vulnerable families.

This day of reflection was held on June 25, 2021 in Adangbe in the presence of Togolese government representatives, Compassion International Togo, and the community of Adangbe. It was held in two phases.

The first phase was the official one marked by speeches: the speeches of the Reeve of Zio, the representative of the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection, the National Director of Compassion International Togo, and the representative of the Ministry of Social Action, Promotion of Women and Literacy. All these authorities deplored the phenomenon of child pornography and underlined the importance of this day of reflection to come to an end of this phenomenon. The National Director of Compassion International Togo particularly emphasized Compassion’s concern that every child be known, loved and protected. He stressed that Compassion International Togo felt concerned by the phenomenon of child pornography, especially since the organization serves more than 8,000 children in the district of Zio. This phase ended with a photo shoot to immortalize the event.
