©AfreePress- (Lomé, September 25, 2021)- The NGO Compassion International Togo organized at its headquarters on Saturday, September 25, 2021, a ceremony to award awards of excellence to the best students of its support program during the last national exams. Called « Kalos Awards », this ceremony aims to reward the work done by the beneficiaries and to encourage them to redouble their efforts to maintain the level.
This is the sixth consecutive time that Compassion International Togo organizes the « Kalos Awards » word that means in Greek excellent, honorable, precious… A tradition therefore for this Christian NGO very attached to the culture of excellence. Due to the restrictions imposed by the government to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2021 ceremony was reduced to a very limited nimber of beneficiaries and guests, the others followed by videoconference.
There were 13 students admitted to the CEPD (3), BEPC (3), BAC1 (3) and BAC2 (4), who were awarded incentive prizes consisting of bicycles, supplies and other school materials, financial envelopes, etc. The National Director of Compassion International Togo, Koffi AHONON said he was proud of the work of these students despite the difficulties imposed by the coronavirus pandemic on some Child and Youth Development Centers (CDEJ) and invited them to maintain this course.
« Despite the context that always required compliance with certain measures, our partner churches provided the necessary assistance to the students through rehearsal classes, the purchase of books, school fees and school follow-up. These efforts have enabled students benefiting from Compassion programs to achieve very encouraging results in the various national exams, with success rates higher than those obtained at the national level. […] I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to all the students who have worked tirelessly to have these success rates. I encourage them to do more for the coming academic years. Our wish is to see them among the best students at the national school exams » , said Koffi AHONON, National Director of Compassion International Togo.
Compassion International will continue to support the children in its program on all levels so that they stay on track. On the side of the beneficiaries, it is quite naturally a feeling of immense joy.
“I was very satisfied with this award, which is organized by Compassion. Frankly speaking, it motivates us a lot. I didn’t think I’d go out to the baccalaureate with honors… but to see the way our coordinator motivated me, and then I myself had participated in the kalos prize when I was in first year of high school, so it really motivated me and I still fought a lot and today I still received the gifts from Kalos, I am very satisfied », said Abel TSEDE, one of the beneficiary students.
To date, the results of the interventions of the NGO Compassion International in Togo remain very laudatory. It works with 294 churches and has more than 72,000 children throughout the country. These children are followed at all levels for their development. Compassion International’s approach is based on holistic child development.
