©AfreePress-(Lomé, october 17, 2023)-The jointly launched beekeeping project by the Golfe 1 and Vo 4 municipalities in Akoumapé is witnessing significant advancements.
Following the preliminary work, the phase of hive installation, leading to honey harvest in liters, was officially initiated on Monday, October 16, 2023, under the guidance of Mayor Joseph Koamy Gomado of Golfe 1 and Mayor Kodjo Ezian of Akoumapé in Vo 4.
The Golfe 1 and Vo 4 beekeeping project is being implemented on a reforested 40-hectare site featuring cashew trees.
This project is also distinguished by the application of modern beekeeping techniques.
Unlike traditional methods that involve honey harvesting and bee mortality, this project focuses on providing a secure habitat for the bees by setting up 1000 hives on a portion of the site, allowing honey to be collected without harming the bees.
