Africa Financial Industry Summit (AFIS) 2023: Paving the way for a robust african financial landscape

©AfreePress-(Lomé, november 15, 2023)-The Africa Financial Industry Summit (AFIS) 2023, convened by Jeune Afrique Media Group in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Republic of Togo, has brought together over 1000 financial leaders, policymakers, and regulators. This summit aims to address key challenges and foster the creation of a world-class financial industry in Africa.

The summit hosts 20 Ministers of Economy and Finance, central bank governors, vice-governors, and regulatory authorities.
Key discussions revolve around managing currency-related risks, tokenizing African assets, global economic reforms, and the impact of artificial intelligence on the financial sector.

The central theme is : “Building a World-Class African Financial Industry: A $1.5 Trillion Opportunity,” emphasizes attracting African institutional investments, regulatory harmonization, fostering talent for digital transformation, and innovation in sectors like climate finance and tokenization.

Against the backdrop of global economic uncertainty, AFIS 2023 positions itself as a catalyst for Africa’s economic resurgence. It focuses on vital actions for inclusive, robust, and reliable finance, contributing to the continent’s economic recovery.

His Excellency Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, President of the Togolese Republic, during the opening ceremony, encourages seizing opportunities amid crises, highlighting the AfCFTA as a long-term anchor for Africa’s recovery.

Sérgio Pimenta, IFC Vice President for Africa, stresses the pivotal role of the financial sector in Africa’s inclusive growth and transition to sustainable energy. On this way, Ramatoulaye Goudiaby, Director of AFIS said that the positions AFIS si like a catalyst for shared ambitions and challenges facing the finance sector.

The Agenda:

The two-day summit will host over thirty conferences, workshops, and roundtable discussions. It serves as a vital platform facilitating dialogues between public sector actors and private sector leaders.

Distinguished personalities include financial leaders, regulators, and decision-makers from across Africa and globally, fostering collaborative discussions on Africa’s economic revival.
