©AfreePress-(Lomé, juily 12, 2023)–New World TV continues to make progress. After UEFA, FIFA, and the English FA Cup, the Pan-African television group has now won another significant contract. It concerns the broadcasting rights for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 competitions in French and local languages for twenty-two (22) French-speaking sub-Saharan African countries.
The agreement was concluded on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, in Frankfurt, Germany, between representatives of New World TV and Bundesliga International.
It will officially come into effect at the beginning of the 2023-2024 season.
As part of this agreement, New World TV will hold non-exclusive broadcasting rights in pay television for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, as well as for the German Supercup, which pits the winner of the league against the winner of the German Cup at the start of the season, and for the Bundesliga relegation playoff matches that take place at the end of each season.
In its domestic market of Togo, New World TV has also acquired the free-to-air broadcasting rights for the Bundesliga, committing to broadcasting one match per league day on its local sports channel, thereby offering all fans in the country the opportunity to watch the best of German football.
Furthermore, New World TV will collaborate with the league and its partners to develop and implement a strategy for localized content, including programs in local languages such as Lingala, Wolof, Bambara, Dioula, and Ewe, as well as other initiatives aimed at enhancing engagement with football fans throughout French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa.
« By obtaining the broadcasting rights for the Bundesliga, New World TV will now broadcast one of the most prestigious national football leagues in the world. This major new partnership reinforces our position as one of the leading sports channels on the continent, covering the biggest international football competitions. We look forward to working with the team at Bundesliga International to provide our subscribers with the best moments and highlights from Germany every week, » stated Nimonka Kolani, CEO of New World TV.
On the other hand, Peer Naubert, Marketing Director of Bundesliga International, commended the vision of New World TV and expressed delight in the collaboration between the two entities to serve football enthusiasts.
« We are delighted to partner with our new and ambitious partner, New World TV, as part of our multifaceted localized approach. By broadcasting in several local African languages, New World TV offers a fresh perspective and expands our offering to French-speaking sub-Saharan African fans. The Bundesliga is the fastest-growing league on the continent, and with more opportunities to watch it, along with a presence on a wide range of digital and social media platforms, we are committed to serving African football fans to the best of our abilities and bringing them closer to their favorite stars, » he said.
