Lomé, January 9, 2026 -(©AfreePress)- The Société Aéroportuaire de Lomé-Tokoin (SALT) is turning a new page with the appointment of Kanka-Malik Natchaba as its Director General. The former Minister of Higher Education and Research returns to an institution he briefly led between 2016 and 2017, at a time marked by heightened ambitions for Togo’s aviation sector.
His comeback comes at a pivotal moment, as Togolese authorities seek to strengthen Lomé’s position as a leading logistics and airport hub in West Africa. The ongoing modernization of Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport has emerged as a key economic driver, bolstering the country’s attractiveness, business tourism, and the competitiveness of the regional hub.
Natchaba succeeds Colonel Dimini Allaharé, whose tenure at the helm of SALT helped reinforce aviation security standards and consolidate the company’s institutional foundations. The new Director General is now expected to pursue a more proactive agenda focused on operational efficiency, technological innovation, and deeper regional integration.
Well-versed in the sector’s challenges, he previously worked on strategic files involving passenger flow management, cooperation with airlines, and the commercial enhancement of airport facilities. His ministerial experience—shaped by the management of complex reforms and flagship projects in higher education and research—adds further strategic depth to his profile.
This new mandate will be closely watched by investors, technical and financial partners, and stakeholders across the aviation industry, as SALT is poised to play a central role in Togo’s economic and logistics momentum.
