Abdourahamane Tiani, to Togo on Friday, December 8, 2023, was fruitful and heralds promising prospects for bilateral cooperation.
The meeting between the two leaders was an opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, materialized by the upcoming opening of a Togolese embassy in Niamey. They also discussed the region’s security challenges, expressing their joint willingness to collaborate in addressing the persistent threats of terrorism and violent extremism.
In a spirit of dialogue and cooperation, the Heads of State applauded the initiative to create a Support Group for the Transition in Niger and discussed cooperation projects in transit and transportation, envisioning opportunities after the normalization of the situation.
As a gesture of appreciation for the warm reception, President Tiani expressed profound gratitude to the Togolese authorities for the facilities extended during his visit and officially invited Togolese President, Faure Gnassingbe, for an official visit to Niger—an invitation that was eagerly accepted.
This meeting demonstrates a shared commitment to strengthen diplomatic ties and promote closer cooperation between Togo and Niger.
