Lomé, February 25, 2025 – (©AfreePress)- Eight new ambassadors officially presented their letters of credence to His Excellency Dr. Omar Alieu TOURAY, President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, on monday, february 24, 2025. The ceremony, held at the institution’s headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria, marks a significant milestone in strengthening diplomatic ties between ECOWAS and several partner states.
The newly accredited heads of mission include Mr. Gautier MIGNOT, Ambassador of the European Union Delegation, Mr. Marc FONBAUSTIER representing France, Ms. Sanna SELIN for Finland, Mr. Francisco Edu NGUA MANGUE for Equatorial Guinea, Mr. Pankyu KIM for South Korea, and Mr. Hocine MEZOUED for Algeria. The High Commissioner of Sierra Leone, Dr. Julius SANDY, along with Archbishop Michael CROTTY, Permanent Representative of the Holy See, also presented their letters of credence to the ECOWAS President.
While welcoming the diplomats, Dr. Omar Alieu TOURAY extended his heartfelt congratulations on their appointments and assured them of his full support in the fulfillment of their respective missions. He also took the opportunity to discuss with each of them the current state of relations between their countries and ECOWAS, exploring prospects for enhanced cooperation in support of West African economic integration.
Through this ceremony, ECOWAS reaffirms its commitment to international cooperation and its dedication to promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development in the West African sub-region.
